January 2018
January can definitely be a blue month. Holidays are done and the weather can really be a damper. Our wet west coast weather doesn’t usually bother me, I love the seasons here in lotus land. However, the rain has been pretty unrelenting the past few weeks, even for me, and by the months end I found myself feeling pretty blue and uninspired. Then the other day, I plugged in my memory card to take a look at my camera roll and realized how many great moments I’d had. My mum had a milestone birthday and so we spent a couple days with the family. We spent lots of time in the woods and did a great little impromptu mountain biking session with my brother. We had warm cozy moments by a wood fire, I caught an early morning ferry and the early morning light. And we enjoyed some lovely slow mornings and home cooked meals. Really, I realized how grateful I am for my family and how much I love living here even when it seems like the rain will never end. And also that I have been practicing “hygge” all month without even realizing it.
